Alabama car accidents often involve children

It is always tragic when lives are lost in motor vehicle crashes in Alabama. When victims of car accidents are children, the sorrow of such situations is often intensified. By law, anyone who suffers the untimely death of an immediate family member due to the negligence of another motorist is able to seek recourse through the legal system by filing a wrongful death claim in court.

A tragedy recently occurred that involved a woman from another state who was traveling in Mobile County. The 32-year-old was riding in a car that also contained a 3-year-old child passenger. At some point, as the vehicle made its way across a bridge, it became involved in a collision with two other cars.

A 45-year-old man was determined to have been driving the vehicle carrying the woman and child. He and the other drivers all suffered injuries in the crash. They were taken to various area hospitals for treatment. Sadly, both the woman and the toddler died as a result of their injuries in the accident.

Although no report was made about who caused this fatal accident, that information will be important to the injured parties as well as the surviving family of the deceased victims. In Alabama and other states, when car accidents result in injuries to others, or, in worst cases, death, victims or their surviving family members may be able to receive compensation for damages after successfully litigating claims against negligent drivers. Anyone considering filing such a claim may seek consultation with a personal injury lawyer to gain clarification on state and federal laws that pertain to such matters before proceeding to court.
