Alabama trucking accidents: 1 dead as big rigs collide

Alabama highways are often cluttered with traffic, including fast-moving vehicles, as well as those that may be parked along-side the road. The logistics of a particular road often affects driving conditions. Trucking accidents are all too common throughout the state, often resulting in serious injuries or death. A recent tragedy occurred that involved a Peterbilt truck and a tractor-trailer that was parked by the highway.

It was nearing 6:30 a.m. when the terrible accident occurred. A 48-year-old woman was apparently behind the wheel of the Peterbilt truck when it collided with the parked 18-wheeler. The woman was reportedly traveling with a passenger in her vehicle at that time.

Sadly, that man, who was a 49-year-old resident of South Carolina, died as a result of the injuries he suffered in the crash. The driver was also injured and taken to an area hospital for care. The tractor-trailer operator was reportedly unscathed in the collision.

The exact cause of the Tuesday accident was not known, though an official investigation is ongoing. Alabama trucking accidents, as all other motor vehicle collisions that result in injury or death, may be grounds for litigation when victims or family members file claims seeking compensation for damages against any party deemed responsible. Such claims are often substantiated in court by the testimonies of expert witnesses enlisted by those representing the plaintiffs. Witnesses might include medical doctors, therapists or automobile manufacturing engineers who can confirm such things as severity of injury, as well as probable causes for how and why such injuries occurred.
