Alabama crash scene one of many fatal motorcycle accidents

The nation's highways are shared by hundreds of thousands of travelers who occupy many different types of vehicles. In Alabama and other states, motorcycle accidents and other collisions often occur. Many such incidents end tragically, with multiple deaths and/or serious injuries to victims.

One such tragedy recently occurred just after 10 p.m. on a Saturday night. Intersections often prove difficult to navigate, especially when one or more vehicles are attempting to turn. In this situation, a truck that was turning left smashed into a motorcycle.

The driver of the truck was a 16-year-old boy who escaped injury. Sadly, the motorcyclist, also a teenager, was pronounced dead on site. When the accident occurred, he had been carrying a passenger on his motorcycle. That person was a 15-year-old, who suffered serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for emergency care. The recovery phase following serious accident injuries may involve repeated medical visits, ongoing physical therapy or even surgery, all of which can all be quite expensive.

All states, including Alabama, have laws and guidelines that pertain to liability when motorcycle accidents result in injuries that were caused by the negligence of another party. In situations where victims survive their injuries, but the party believed to have caused an accident did not, a civil claim may be filed against that party's estate to seek recovery of monetary losses. Anyone facing such situations in Alabama has every right to request a meeting with a personal injury attorney to assess the validity of a claim and begin the preparations for proceeding to court.
