Alabama commuters at risk for early morning car accidents

Traveling to work on any given morning can be dangerous for Alabama motorists. Car accidents typically occur when least expected, often resulting in serious injuries or death. A recent tragedy in Birmingham led authorities to analyze surveillance films of the area in the hope of gaining a better understanding as to what might have caused the collision.

Preliminary investigations appear to suggest a motorist may have run a stop light just before the Thursday morning crash occurred at approximately 5:30. Two vehicles were involved in the accident. One of the drivers, a man who was reportedly on his way to work, was killed.

Another individual involved in the collision suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital in the area for emergency treatment. The speed limit on the road where the accident happened is posted at 35 mph. Authorities say they have reason to believe at least one of the drivers may have been traveling at an excessive speed.

Debris from the collision was apparently strewn far beyond the intersection where the accident occurred, causing the road to be shut down for several hours while clean-up crews did their jobs. Alabama car accidents resulting in injury often lead to claims being filed against those deemed negligent. Successfully litigated claims can provide compensation to recovering victims to help pay medical bills and cover other expenses related to their situations. If a victim dies in a crash because of another party's negligence, an immediate family member may pursue justice on behalf of the decedent.
