Alabama trucking accidents often result in serious back injuries

The sudden impact of motor vehicle colliding can obviously cause serious injuries to those involved. Many trucking accidents in Alabama result in fatalities. Those where victims survive often include serious situations that may result in permanent disabilities due to brain or back injuries.

A recent crash involved a logging truck and two other vehicles. Although an investigation into the incident remains ongoing at the time of this writing, preliminary findings suggest one of the vehicles may have failed to yield a right of way on U.S. 78 East. It was approximately 7 a.m. when police, fire fighters and an emergency medical team responded to the scene.

One of the persons injured in the crash was taken to a shock trauma unit. Two others were airlifted to a nearby hospital for emergency care. The 22-year-old grandson of a woman who was injured said she may have suffered a broken back and a punctured lung in the collision.

The driver of the log truck was also injured but was reported to be conscious and coherent following the accident. His airbag had apparently deployed, and the right side of his truck cab was crunched. Trucking accidents in Alabama that result in serious injuries often result in lawsuits when victims file claims in civil court against those deemed negligent. Taking this type of action may provide compensation (if a claim is successful) that can be used to help pay medical bills and offset other monetary losses associated with any injuries an accident victim has suffered.
