Speed plus negligence often equals car accidents in Alabama

Alabama intersections can be dangerous places, especially if motorists do not act with extreme caution behind their wheels. Car accidents often occur at intersections, and investigation results sometimes show evidence of driver negligence. This may have been the case in a recent situation that ended in tragedy.

Although police say they have not yet completed their investigation of the incident, what they know so far is that excessive speed appears to have been a factor. Two vehicles collided at an intersection in Escambia County. The driver of one car was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Sadly, the 62-year-old woman later succumbed to those injuries. The driver and a passenger from the other vehicle were also hospitalized after the accident. Investigators will no doubt want to speak with them as they gather further information regarding what or who may have caused the collision.

Car accidents are likely to keep occurring on Alabama roadways, especially when drivers speed, text or consume too much alcohol before driving. Anyone injured in a crash someone else has caused is able to pursue justice by filing a claim in a civil court. If the person deemed responsible did not survive the accident, a claim may be filed against his or her estate. Many accident victims are quite unprepared to meet the exorbitant debts that often accrue due to ongoing medical treatment, loss of wages for time off work in recovery and other related expenses. A successful claim may provide compensation that can be used to offset such costs.
