Stats show Alabama motorists at great risk for car accidents

Traveling by motor vehicle is certainly convenient, but can also be quite dangerous. In fact, recent statistics list a city in Alabama as one of the top four most dangerous places in the nation with regard to car accidents. Another city in this state also made the list, coming in at number 34 in the nation.

Being named one of the most dangerous places to travel by motor vehicle is not an accolade many would typically seek. So many families have been devastated after losing loved ones in auto accidents over the past year. Other victims have survived their injuries, but have been left financially distraught when hit with exorbitant costs from medical bills and other expenses related to recovery.

The law allows any person injured in a vehicular collision caused by another person's negligence to file a claim in civil court. In situations where an accident resulted in a fatality, it is obvious that no amount of litigation can ever succeed in replacing the loss of human life. However, funerals can be quite expensive and many grieving families are not prepared to meet such costs.

Successfully litigated personal injury or wrongful death claims can provide compensation to help offset costs related to car accidents. An injured victim of adult age may act in his or her own behalf. A parent or legal guardian can represent a child, and a spouse or other immediate family member may seek justice on behalf of a deceased victim. Anyone considering filing a personal injury claim in Alabama should do so under the guidance of an experienced attorney.
