Alabama car accidents often occur at intersections

Alabama intersections are dangerous places. Car accidents often occur at locations where roads are connected through cross-ways. Although many intersections include traffic lights (meant to keep motorists safe) problems can arise if a driver fails to stop at the appropriate time.

One such tragedy recently took place at an intersection on Highway 53. Authorities believe poor road conditions and vehicle speed were causal factors in the incident. It appears a driver failed to stop for oncoming traffic and veered into the path of another vehicle. The two vehicles collided, resulting in two deaths and injuries to several others.

A formal investigation has been launched to determine the exact cause of the collision. In such situations, an injured victim may seek restitution in court by filing a personal injury claim against any and all parties deemed negligent. The surviving family of a deceased victim may proceed by filing a wrongful death claim. If the party believed responsible did not survived the accident, a claim may be filed against the decedent's estate.

It is not uncommon for car accidents to occur repeatedly at the same intersections. Speed limits set too high, lack of appropriate lighting or traffic signals and various other reasons are often cited as risk factors when intersection collisions keep occurring in the same place. Successfully litigated claims in Alabama can provide compensation that can be used to pay medical bills and offset other financial losses associated with a particular incident. To substantiate one's claim, it is often helpful to enlist the assistance of an experienced personal injury attorney who can help identify possible sources of liability and call upon testimony from third party sources when appropriate.
