Investigation details not always released after car accidents

Many Alabama motor vehicle collisions lead to lengthy investigations, especially if the exact cause of a crash is not immediately apparent. As such, details regarding car accidents are not always published right away. A few facts are known, however, about a recent tragedy that occurred near Mobile.

Officers say the collision took place at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Theodore Dawes Road. A 27-year-old man was behind the wheel of a car that is believed to have collided with another vehicle in the vicinity. There was a 62-year-old woman in the other car.

Due to the sudden impact of the crash, both travelers were in need of emergency medical care. They were taken to two separate medical facilities in the area. Sadly, the woman was not able to survive her injuries. State troopers remain active in their investigation following this tragedy.

Many similar Alabama car accidents in the past were later found to have been caused by driver negligence. Things like handheld cell phone use, texting and drunk driving remain problematic in many areas and often result in serious collisions that result in fatalities. When surviving loved ones of a deceased accident victim learn their family member died in a crash that might have been prevented were it not for the poor choices of others, they often file wrongful death claims in civil court to seek justice on behalf of those who died. Successful litigation can provide compensation that can be used to offset funeral expenses and absorb other costs associated with a particular incident.
